Nosferatu (Stone-Robb)
by Overtime Theater

Fridays-Saturdays

Nosferatu - A Symphony of Shadows was made possible by an individual Artist Grant made by the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture.  Author and Director Dave Stone-Robb received the grant for his concept of a stage adaptation of the original black and white silent film where he maintained those aspects on the stage.

Nosferatu will be presented as a live silent black and white film.  “It will be as though you are inside a black and white movie.  It will be unlike anything you have ever seen”, says Rob Barron, President of the Overtime theater.  Nosferatu is based on the German silent film of the same name from 1922 and tells the story of Count Orlock, who bears a more than passing resemblance to a guy named Dracula that the Germans couldn’t get permission from so they ripped him off.  Here we are, a hundred years later, ripping them off.  Seems only fair.  It is also just in time for the Halloween season!

Dave Stone-Robb has been involved with the Overtime for all of its 19 year history.  He has directed and performed in numerous projects for them over the years including Poet Faustus, Rossum’s Universal Robots, Lear!, The Last Night of Bailey and Long, Fearless Bloodsuckers of Hollywood and The Mountain King. He is extremely grateful to the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture for providing the funds for Nosferatu.  “We couldn’t have done this without them”, Stone-Robb says, “this story is so big and amazing that we couldn’t tell it without their help.”

The Invincible Czars have been making adventurous, fun music with a cinematic flare for lovers of everything in the "other" category since 2003. They started out in the clubs of Austin, TX but their eclectic instrumentation and broad scope quickly led them to crossovers into the fine arts and classic film realm nationwide.  They still make music that's just for listening but their tastefully-modern silent horror film scores have earned us the nickname "The Masters of Silent Horror" at independent cinemas all over the US and Canada where we perform live with movies like Nosferatu (1922) and Phantom of the Opera (1925).  Their score is used for Nosferatu here on our stage and the group will perform it live at the Sunday matinee on November 2nd.

Dedicated to providing original, innovative, and accessible entertainment at an affordable price, The Overtime Theater is a nonprofit organization with the mission of bringing “theater for the people” to the San Antonio community through new and thought-provoking stage productions.
