StMU Theatre invites you to join us for our Fall 2019 production Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley. Henley’s Crimes of the Heart reminds us that the unsettling  nature of Life can be best explored within the microcosm of the family. The family provides a built-in structure, a kind of safety net in which we can react to societal influences and remain at least secure in knowledge that we are not alone. 

Crimes of the Heart is Beth Henley’s answer to how one Southern family in Hazlehurst, Mississippi responds to Life’s absurdities with humor, understanding and love. Each character has particular eccentricities that ignite natural underlying tensions and truths.  It focuses on three sisters’ daring excursions into love and how despite the  circumstances, they can always rely on each other.
