Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once. - II.ii

A new day has dawned in Rome. Caesar has emerged victorious from civil war, and Rome is ready to pronounce him supreme ruler. Brutus, a loyal protector of the Roman republic, and Cassius, an ambitious and conspiratorial Senator, face a stark choice: let Caesar rule or restore the Rome they loved. Julius Caesar probes the divisions between celebrity and statesman, public and private, free will and fate. In the surging tides of a disordered nation, the line between patriot and anarchist is drawn in shifting sand.
