The Old People Are Revolting!
by Temple Civic Theatre

Fridays-Sundays

When the city council decides to end its rates rebate for the elderly, the pen-pushers in town hall have no idea what anarchy they are about to unleash at the village. Led by bolshy former trade union firebrand, Shirley, and the ebullient Howie, the residents hit on the idea of ceding from the rest of the country under the United Nations Charter.

'Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star' is going to be the national anthem of the Independent Kingdom of the Sunshine Retirement Village and Elizabeth, an aged pensioner, is chosen to be queen of the new mini-state.

Determined to start things off with a bang, they recruit Doug, a retired farmer, to build a home-made bomb so they can spectacularly blow up a council-owned jacaranda tree. Once the media gets involved ,in the shape of aspiring young newscaster Ashley Hardwick, the story goes viral on the internet and the revolution becomes unstoppable
