Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
by Georgetown Palace Theatre

May. 19 - Jun. 18, 2017
Fridays-Sundays

We’re off on a colorful, Biblical adventure at Georgetown’s Historic Palace Theatre!  From May 19 to June 18, 2017, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat comes to vibrant life on the Palace stage!  This delightful musical parable is based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis.  Joseph, his father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with dreams of prophecy. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was the first Andrew Lloyd Webber (Music) and Tim Rice (Lyrics) musical to be performed publicly.  The show has little spoken dialogue; it is almost completely sung-through.  Suggested rating: PG for mild stylized violence and sensuality.

Lannes Hilboldt directs Joseph…, Jonathan Borden provides the musical direction, and Jesee Smartis the choreographer.  Lannie, currently the Director of Music for the Palace Theatre, has been a professional musician for more than 40 years, has toured Asia and the United States, performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and performed twice in command performances at the White House.  Lannie also spent 20 years as the house bassist for the Zach Theater in Austin.

Jonathan Borden, Musical Director, has been playing in the musical theatre scene for more than 30 years, ranging from music director, sound designer, conductor to pianist for many theatre productions at places including the Zachary Scott Theatre, Zilker Summer Musical, Live Oak, The State Theatre, The Paramount Theatre, The Georgetown Palace, and Alamo City Theatre in San Antonio.

Choreographer Jesee Smart brings her abundant teaching skills and her amazing ‘feel’ for dance to the stage for Joseph.  Originally from Chicago, Jesee is now a constant presence both onstage and off around the Palace. She has performed in and choreographed several shows this season, teaches for the Palace Education Program, choreographs for the current Production Workshops, and is currently the manager of the Youth Performance Company.
