This story is set in a latin city center full of color and life follows Benito and Marco, two friends navigating a society controlled by powerful factions.
The Overtime Theater is seeking performers for “Los Cuentos De Las Cartas pt. 1” by Karen Arredondo, directed by Alejandra “Allie” Mortimer.

Saturday December 14th, 2024 from 10 AM - 2 PM
or Sunday December 15th from 12 PM - 4 PM
A one-minute dramatic monologue is required for this audition.
In person auditions should also be prepared to cold read. Video submissions will be accepted until 12/15 at 12 PM and should be sent to:

Production dates are weekends February 14th - March 8th, 2025. (Thursday Pay What You Will and Sunday Matinee Dates TBA). Rehearsals start January 13th.

ROLES:
Benito- 30s-50s. (El Boracho) Husband of Karla. Father to Clara. A false sense of confidence. Often acts rashly.
Marco- 30s-50s. (El Musico) Best Friend of Benito. Musician. Cautious, driven by anxiety, and failing health. A voice of reason no one listens to.
Karla- 30s-late 40s. (La Dama) Politician. Wife of Benito. Once kind, now delusional. Struggles with Power and moral issues.
Susana- 30s-late 40s. (La Sirena) Musician. Best friend of Karla. Extremely talented, beautiful. Struggles with Imposter Syndrome. Secretly loves Benito.
Clara- 16 years old. (La Chalupa) Daughter of Benito and Karla. She doesnt fit the perfect daughter mold Karla wants. Rebellious, Intelligent, Kind, but also naive from a sheltered life. Singer/Songwriter
Cristoban- 40s-50s. (El Catrin) Assistant to Karla. Conniving. Has his own agenda. Using people comes easy. Is in a position of service.
Vicente-30s-50s. (El Valiente) Assistant to Rosita. Good-hearted, Activist for noble reasons. Loves Rosita even though he knows she doesnt love him.
Rosita- 16-18. (La Rosa) Activist, orphan. A natural leader. Direct, Ambitious, Hard Shell, Intelligent, and talented. She carves her own path. Singer.
Extras. 20s-50s The Bartender, Crowd scenes, Los Gallos soldiers, Los Pajaros soldiers.
