Welcome friend, you are right on time!

Kenneth has everything he needs: a job he loves, his best friend Bert, and daily mai tais at Wally’s. It’s a comforting, secure routine — until he finds himself unemployed. With Bert’s encouragement, Kenneth applies to be a teller at Primary Trust Bank. Thriving at work, he slowly begins to open his heart to new people and possibilities. But when newfound rhythms threaten his friendship with Bert, Kenneth must face his past before he can fully embrace his future.Currently one of the most produced plays in the country right now, Primary Trust is an intimate and heartwarming story of friendship, resilience, and the search for human connection that shines a spotlight on the small moments that make life worthwhile.

Ben Wolfe directs. “On my first reading of Primary Trust, I felt a deep kinship with Kenneth—living a structured life, comfortable in his routines, and struggling to connect with others when those routines are suddenly changed. I was immediately struck by the depth of its simplicity: exploring the human experience, finding meaning in the ebb and flow of ordinary life, and inviting us to see how small acts of kindness, patience, and community can transform a life,” said Wolfe. “I think now is the right time to tell this story because it offers the perfect antidote when we're feeling overwhelmed—by the world, the news, or life itself. It’s exactly the kind of story that I love to tell at Austin Playhouse: intimate, deeply human, and full of hope.”
