Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's riveting musical tells the story of Eva Perón's transformation from a poor, ambitious teenager to the powerful First Lady of Argentina, and tickets are selling fast!
Audiences who know and love the iconic score will find everything they adore brought to vivid life by a live cast at the Russell Hill Rogers Theater. Featuring some of musical theatre's most unforgettable songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and "Buenos Aires," there is nothing quite like experiencing Evita's sweeping passion and political drama in person, in the room, in real time.
Winner of multiple Tony Awards, Evita is a theatrical experience that resonates long after the final curtain. This production stars San Antonio locals Sami Serrano as Eva Perón, Rick Sanchez as Che, and Isidro Medina III as Juan Peón, alongside a stellar ensemble of local talent and accompanied by a live orchestra of San Antonio musicians, bringing these iconic roles to life right here in our community.
President & CEO Asia Ciaravino says the production was a natural fit for the season. "Evita is one of the most powerful stories ever written about a woman who refused to be ignored," she says. "As part of our The Rest is HERstory season, it felt like the perfect choice. When you have a cast, orchestra, and creative team of this caliber all rooted in this city, that is something worth making noise about!"
San Pedro Playhouse is also proud to partner with two of San Antonio's most celebrated youth arts organizations for this production. Through a new collaboration with Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA), emerging young musicians will perform alongside professional artists as part of an exciting new fellowship program. Additionally, the Children's Chorus of San Antonio joins the production for the final weekend performances on July 23, 24, 25, and 26, bringing the chorus’ talented young singers to our stage. These partnerships reflect our deep commitment to San Antonio's arts community and to creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of performers.
Recommended for ages 14 and up for mature themes and language.
