This premiere brings original choreography, music, costume and lighting design together in an intimate environment for the first work created since the passing of our friend and founder, Kathy Dunn Hamrick.
At times, this journey has felt like we are on a ship sailing in the night, continuing a grand expedition started by Kathy, with all of the excitement, turbulence and challenges that grand expeditions require. But we've also been in luck, Kathy's lighthouse, as well as our constellation of community have continued to guide us through the ever-changing emotional sea that we've arrived in.
The juxtaposition of gratitude and heartbreak will inevitably be felt throughout the company for quite some time, and is certainly found in our latest work. However, to have the support of our community means everything to us, just as it did for Kathy, and we are truly honored to share this experience with you as we all continue to reflect on the loves, losses and ever shifting constellations in our lives.
In other words, let’s dance, let’s gather, let’s continue to support one another, make art and share our experiences. That has always been at the core of KDHDC and we are excited to continue that energy forward. See you soon!
