I DON’T Regret MY Abortion

An Autobiographical Play by Anna De Luna Premieres in San Antonio.

San Antonio, TX – I DON’T Regret MY Abortion, an original, autobiographical play written and performed by Anna De Luna, will premiere at Jump Start Theater on Friday and Saturday, April 10-11 at 8pm. Directed by Marisela Barrera, this powerful production draws from Ms. De Luna’s personal photos, video, and live theater to explore her experience with an unplanned pregnancy 25 years ago.

Set against the backdrop of a strict Catholic, Mexican-American, rural upbringing in South Texas, Ms. De Luna revisits her dilemma and the deeply personal choice she made to end her pregnancy. The play confronts the unique stigma that Latinas face when making this decision and brings critical awareness to the ongoing racial inequities that continue to limit women’s access to legal reproductive healthcare.

Through candid reflection and compelling storytelling, Anna shares her choice openly—without shame and without stigma—challenging the narrative that “nice Latinas” do not have abortions. This performance aims to foster dialogue and understanding around reproductive rights within the Latina community and beyond.

A post-show discussion will follow each performance, providing an opportunity for audience members to engage with the artist and director on these important issues.

Quote from Anna De Luna, “In 1999 I was fortunate enough to have a safe and legal abortion in Texas. The more I talk about it, the more women and men tell me they - or their partner - experienced this too. No one really talks about abortion openly, especially in the Latinx culture…so I want to utilize my teatro to help break this silence.”
