Austin Playhouse is thrilled to announce the cast of the upcoming Theatre for Youth production of Carmela Full of Wishes adapted by Alvaro Saar Rios, based on the book by Matt de la Peña!

A heartfelt journey filled with hope, imagination, and the magic of wishes! It’s Carmela’s birthday, and she’s finally old enough to tag along on errands with her older brother. When she discovers a lone dandelion sprouting from the sidewalk, a simple outing becomes a whirlwind of dreams and possibilities. Poetic, playful, and brimming with heart, Carmela Full of Wishes is a moving celebration of growing up, speaking out, and holding on to what matters most.

Directed by Mateo Hernandez, the cast features Diana Patricia Guizado as Carmela, Matthew Joseph Garcia as Big Brother, Lligany Otaduy as Mami/Ensemble, andMichael Galvan as Papi/Ensemble.

The production team also includes costume design by Matthew Smith, lighting design by S. Elliott, sound design by Robert S. Fisher, scenic design by Mike Toner, properties design by Ismael Soto III, with stage management by Megan Clarke.

Austin Playhouse believes that theatre should be accessible for all. Student tickets for Theatre for Youth productions are always Pick-Your-Price, with a select number of free tickets available for each performance.
