Amadeus
by Classic Theatre of San Antonio
Jun. 05 - Jun. 29
Thursdays-Sundays
Immerse yourself in the dazzling world of genius and envy with a riveting tale of rivalry, obsession, and the pursuit of artistic excellence as Classic Theatre presents Peter Shaffer's Tony-Award-winning play Amadeus, directed by J. Robert “Jimmy” Moore.
Set against the backdrop of 18th-century Vienna's extravagance, Amadeus offers an immersive experience into a world of unparalleled musical talent and unruly behavior, centering on the contrasting lives of the celebrated Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the deeply envious Antonio Salieri. Witness their intense battle of wills unfold in a conflict with far-reaching and devastating consequences. Featuring a sumptuous score interwoven with beloved compositions, including Mozart's iconic “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” and the haunting “Requiem.”
Director J. Robert “Jimmy” Moore adds: “I am thrilled to be bringing Amadeus back to San Antonio in a bold, intimate new production. This play is a celebration of art and an exploration of genius, excess, and the jealousies that live quietly—or not so quietly—in all of us. We have an incredible cast, featuring some of San Antonio’s favorite performers who have not been seen onstage in years. We’re looking forward to bringing this lush, evocative production to the Classic Theatre stage in all its pageantry and glory.”
Don't miss this unforgettable production of Amadeus, guaranteed to captivate audiences from thefirst note to the final, dramatic conclusion.
