"Ballot Eats the Bullet: U Matter!" Is a choreopoem declaring the identity, beauty, and worth of black women. Using vignettes, interactive spoken word, jazz aesthetic movement, song, and passion, these four voices chart pathways rarely explored when it comes to destroying myths and ethos of black women.

Written and directed by Austin Arts Hall of Fame Artist Zell Miller, Ill with writing contributions by Anne M. Wynter.

Last year, HPT co-produced ZM3Live's critically acclaimed Chronicles of an Indigenous offspring. That show was nominated for five B. Iden Payne Awards and made the Austin Chronicle's "Top 10 Memorable Moments in Austin Theater of 2023."

Like ChroniclesBallot Eats the Bullet: U Matter, was also written and directed by Austin Arts Hall of Fame artist Zell Miller, III, this time with writing contributions from award-winning author and playwright Anne Wynter. It features Chelsea Manasseri, Jennine "Doc" Krueger, and Amara Johnson, as well as introducing Amaiya Byrd.

The play is dedicated to the most silenced voice in American history, that of the black woman. This engaging choreopoem fuses jazz aesthetic movement, elegant melodic voices in four-part harmonies, truth-laced spoken word and beautifully crafted vignettes that engage all five senses and paint a portrait of what it means to be a black woman in America. The piece openly confronts topics such as identity, politics, healthcare, relationships, love, and police brutality, all told through a lens of tough love with a side of humor.

ZM3LiveProductions is a production company based in central Texas that has been a consistent theatrical voice for sons and daughters of the diaspora for over 20 years. Besides 2023's Chronicles of an Indigenous offspring, this creative team has shown its artistic excellence with the award-winning My child, my child, my alien child (at HPT), Arrhythmia, Oh ***, it's a girl, Hands up Hoodies down, Oh snap . . . my alien children are trying to kill me! and the Hip-Hop Theater Explosion.
