The Cat in the Hat
by Magik Theatre

Feb. 01 - Mar. 02, 2019

The National Theatre’s adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat returns to the Magik stage. Not a word has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss’ classic, ensuring that anyone who’s read the story will find themselves transported into the world they’ve always imagined. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that the cat in the hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun, but what will mum find when she gets home?

“While The Cat in the Hat celebrates the use of imagination and fun, it also reminds us of the importance of responsibility. I think this is a story which stays in the hearts of people young and old, as it is often one of the first books that a child reads. It's clever and it sticks with you,” says Director Jon Gentry. “And ultimately, it's a great lesson on why it's important to keep the house clean.”

The Magik Theatre is celebrating its 25th Anniversary during the 2018-2019 season, sponsored by H-E-B. Special thanks to the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture.
