2026-2027 Season Details: San Pedro Playhouse and Classic Theatre of San Antonio

San Pedro Playhouse and Classic Theatre are proud to announce their 2026/27 Season,” What We Do For Love,” a nine-production lineup spanning two venues and nearly a year of live theatre in the heart of San Antonio. From beloved Broadway classics to intimate dramatic works, the season explores love in all its forms: courageous and complicated, joyful and devastating, stubborn and transcendent.

The season officially premieres on October 2, 2026 at the Russell Hill Rogers Theater and spans productions in both the historic Rogers Theater and the Classic Theatre, with the beloved Shakespeare in the Park tradition returning to San Pedro Springs Park in April 2027.

The season kicks off with the cult-classic horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors, followed by the beloved family-favorite Annie and the heartwarming holiday event It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Audiences will experience the powerful, award-winning drama The Mountaintop, the groundbreaking Broadway sensation A Chorus Line, and Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy Macbeth. Edward Albee’s incisive At Home at the Zoo offers intimate storytelling, while Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony-winning In the Heights brings vibrant music and culture to the stage. Closing the season with wit and sophistication, Noël Coward’s sparkling comedy Blithe Spirit promises laughter, charm, and a truly unforgettable theatrical experience.

"This season is about the full spectrum of what love asks of us," said Asia Ciaravino, President & CEO of San Pedro Playhouse and Classic Theatre. "We chose these nine stories because together they reflect that love isn't just a feeling, it's a force. It drives us to sacrifice, to fight, to open our hearts even when it's terrifying. We believe live theatre is one of the few places where an entire community can explore that together, and we can't wait to share this season with San Antonio."

"Programming this season felt like putting together a conversation that's been happening for centuries," said Rick Sanchez, Vice President of Artistic Programming. "Each of these works asks the same essential question in a completely different way. Questions about courage, love, and the choices we make in our lives, but in such wildly different ways. From the humor of Blithe Spirit to the energy of In the Heights, and the heart of Annie to the intensity of The Mountaintop, every production is a chance to see someone wrestling with what matters most to them.”

This production marks a momentous homecoming: Classic Theatre founders Tony Ciaravino and Asia Ciaravino, who also serves as CEO of San Pedro Playhouse, take the stage together as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, with Asia returning to the stage for the first time in over a decade. Also, this year, we're proud to announce that Shakespeare in the Park is free for all. Three years of learning, growing, and investing in this beloved event have brought San Pedro Playhouse and Classic Theatre to this moment, and it is the San Antonio community that made it possible. Because of that steadfast support, the magic of Shakespeare under the stars now belongs to everyone. VIP packages and seating upgrades will be available for those who want an elevated experience.
