Technical Manager / Lighting Designer Part Time

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Technical Manager/ Lighting Designer is a specialist position providing support for the Black Box Theatre, reports directly to the Director of Theatre and is overseen by the College of Arts & Sciences. 

POSITION FUNCTIONS    

  • Lighting Design: design and oversee the hang and focus the spring theatrical production; oversee sound and lighting for special events in the Black Box (music, communications, Student Life); assist and supervise student designers for smaller theatre events
  • Maintenance of Lighting Equipment: clean, repair, maintain and keep an up-to-date inventory of the theatrical (primarily lighting) equipment in the theatre
  •  Mentoring/Teaching: mentor and train undergraduate students interested in lighting design and technology
  • All other duties as assigned 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s of Fine Arts in Lighting or Design preferred)
  • 2 - 3 years’ professional experience in lighting design and technology
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to efficiently and effectively solve problems
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to articulate and model the Mission, Vision & Values of Concordia University Texas
