Gatsby has roles for four women and five men of various ages, and numerous dancers and party-goers:


In their 20’s
- Jay Gatsby, the mysterious, romantic self-made millionaire
- Nick Carraway, a neighbor to Gatsby, cousin of Daisy, and teller of the story
- Daisy Buchanan, cousin of Nick, wife of Tom, obsession of Gatsby, life of the party 
-Tom Buchanan, the bully and unfaithful husband of Daisy, who battles with Gatsby for her attention
- Jordan Baker, friend to Daisy, professional athlete and scruple-less


In their 30’s – 40’s
- Myrtle Wilson, the dissatisfied wife of George, mistress to Tom 
- George Wilson, an unfortunate, bedraggled mechanic, married to Myrtle
- Mrs. McKee, a shrill and shallow partier, friend of Myrtle


Older still:
- Meyer Wolfsheim, a mentor to Gatsby; a man with many criminal connections


Some actors playing the above roles will also play parts in other scenes, in addition to the dancers and party-goers.
