Euripides’ classic Greek tragedy is based on the myth of Jason and Medea, and particularly Medea’s revenge against Jason for betraying her with another woman. Medea is often considered Euripides’ best and most popular work and one of the great plays of the Western canon.

All parts being considered:

Nurse: A young woman, 18 – 25. Medea's confidant, and the narrator of the story.

Medea: Queen of Colchis, 35-50. A powerful, magical, cunning, classically beautiful woman who has just passed her prime, capable of covering a Hamlet-esque range of emotion and psychology. She is not the aggressor, rather she is the victim who has been cornered into a terrible situation and must fight her way out.
Jason: A devilishly handsome, charismatic 30-40 year old who can make any powerful woman swoon. He's a conqueror of land, riches, and hearts. Once he has vanquished, he moves on. He has a sense of invincibility with an expertise in diplomacy. A womanizer, as well as a leader of men.
Aegeus-King of Athens: A friendly man who is especially fond of Medea. He and his wife are best friends with Jason & Medea. He is willing to sacrifice for his friends as long as it doesn't compromise the safety of his people.
Chorus 1-4: Four women who characterize the voices in Medea's head. They battle out scenarios with Medea and support her decisions. Must be able to dance and sing.
