She Loves Me
by Georgetown Palace Theatre

Nov. 12 - Nov. 14 (2023)

Set in a 1930s European perfumery, She Loves Me introduces shop clerks Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don’t see eye to eye. After both respond to a “lonely hearts advertisement” in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves… and all the twists and turns along the way!

An intimate and touching show, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret). Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. The Mikos Lazlos play Parfuemerie, on which it is based, has inspired many adaptations, including the beloved film You’ve Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

THE AUDITIONS:

Vocal auditions are from 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023 on the Tin Barn Rehearsal Stage .  This initial audition should consist of no more than one minute of a song in the style of the show that shows off your range and abilities.  This show uses classic/legit musical theater styling rather than pop music, so please factor that into your choice as you prepare your audition.  Singing from the show is completely acceptable if you so choose, but we encourage you to use your initial audition to show us not only your talent, but also your creativity and personality.  An accompanist will be provided, and we will also be able to connect pre-recorded music if you bring that with you instead.  If you need to use pre-recorded music please make sure to have either the exact cut you will be using or have the music correctly cued up prior to entering the audition room.

The dance audition on Monday, November 13  will be from 7:00 PM- 10:00 PM on the Tin Barn Rehearsal Stage. Please come in comfortable clothes (probably not jeans) and appropriate shoes – jazz or character Shoes are preferred but tennis shoes are acceptable as well. The dance audition will consist of a choreographed combo. All roles will participate in some capacity during musical numbers, so all auditioners are required to attend.

  • If your audition time is between 5 pm and 7:00 pm, please arrive for the dance call on Monday at 7 pm.
  • If your audition time is 7:15p m or later, please arrive for the dance call on Monday at 8:30 pm.

Audition sign ups can be found HERE

If none of the auditions times listed works for your schedule, please fill out the form and add yourself to the waitlist. Send productions@georgetownpalace.com an email, and we’ll arrange an alternate audition time.

When signing up for an audition slot please note any conflicts during the rehearsal or performance dates.  Please note: conflicts do not necessarily negate the opportunity to be cast, but we must know about them up front to factor that into the casting decisions.  Barring emergencies, additional conflicts added/disclosed after casting could result in dismissal from the production.  Sunday rehearsals will only be planned for tech rehearsals immediately prior to opening, but please include Sunday afternoon conflicts for the rehearsal period so that in the event a Saturday must be canceled due to cast conflicts we will know whether a reschedule on Sunday is an option.
Adding all of your conflicts after casting could result in your removal of the production.

REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals begin Monday, December 4, 2023 – There will be a week off during the holidays. Exact off days to be determined when fully cast. Scripts and scores will be available at the first rehearsal. But those offered roles will receive a link to a digital copy.  Rehearsals will typically be held Monday-Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  Sunday afternoon will only be an option in the event a Saturday must be canceled due to cast conflicts.

CASTING:

Once casting is completed (typically 2-3 days after callbacks), emails will be sent to the actors that will be offered a role in the production. Once the full cast has accepted, everyone else who auditioned will be notified via email.

COMPENSATION:

All actors offered a role in the show will be paid a stipend. Payment and casting will be contingent upon The Georgetown Palace Theatre’s casting policies.
