An evolution of the 2024 workshop production, Chronicles of a Black DeafBlind Girl
In this bold, full-length reimagining, Ghari steps beyond survival and into self-definition. Ghari has arrived at a life entirely of her own making—new city, new language, new career, and a newly single identity. But this isn’t just a story about change. It’s about agency, desire, and the beautiful chaos of claiming space when the world rarely makes room for you.
As a Black DeafBlind woman, Ghari moves through a world that often underestimates her. But she doesn’t ask for permission—she just moves. Through tender, awkward, and sometimes hilarious moments of modern dating, family dynamics, and unexpected friendship, Ghari learns what it means to live unapologetically.
Ghari Moves Without Permission is an intimate, immersive exploration of autonomy, intersectionality, and joy—told through a theatrical language that centers access, embodiment, and the rich inner life of its protagonist. This is not just her story; it’s an invitation to witness a way of being that challenges what we think we know about ability, Blackness, womanhood, and love.
