In February 2017 Jacqui Cross will appear as  Mahalia Jackson in a biopic written by Robert King, Jr. The script was given its first staglng at the sam Bass Community Theatre in Round Rock last June. It is currently in the works for a February 2017 run with RKJB Entertainment in cooperation with Spectrum Theater Company, Austin's leading African-American theatre company. Dates, times and venue will be announced. 

 

Synopsis: In 1965 white writer Julie Ann Mathews travels from Alabama to Illinois to get a rare interview with gospel legend Mahalia Jackson. This gospel spirited musical is filled with some of Mahalia Jackson's greatest hits like "How I Got Over", "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "Didn't It Rain" and many more! Nominated by broadway world. com for best writing of  an original work.
