Austin Mayor Steve Adler signed the City of Austin proclamation, recognizing the Austin Babtist Women as “an incredibly-respected charitable force, performing throughout Central Texas and the nation to raise more than $7 million for HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other charitable causes.”  The proclamation also notes “the Austin Babtist Women actively “Keep Austin Weird” by representing the creative and charitable spirit of the City of Austin in performances across the nation – including on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and at major cities coast-to-coast.”

The weekend of 30th Anniversary festivities launches on Friday, September 23rd, with a bar tour through the Warehouse District, starting at 9:00 p.m. at the Iron Bear, located at 121 West 8th Street.  The free event will feature an opportunity for Austin Babtist Women fans to interact with the current cast and visiting alumni cast members.

On Saturday, September 24th, entertainers from throughout the nation will travel to Austin to “roast” and honor the Austin Babtist Women at a special performance at Oilcan Harry’s, located at 211 West 4th Street in downtown Austin.  Special guests, including renowned diva Chica Larouge from Baton Rouge, LA, will perform at the once-in-a-lifetime gathering of entertainers.

The celebrations culminate on Sunday, September 25th, with the 30th Anniversary Year presentation of the Austin Babtist Women’s Anniversary Show at Bout Time II, located at 6607 North IH-35 Frontage Road, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Special guest performers will include the Capital City Men’s Chorus, national award-winning female impersonators Victoria Weston and the Dion Twins, along with surprise entertainers.  Alumni cast members will return to join the current cast of the Austin Babtist Women for an extravaganza revue that will benefit several Central Texas charities – including the Wright House Wellness Center, Project Transitions, the Breast Cancer Resource Center, the Paul Kirby Fund at AIDS Services of Austin, and the Texas Gay Rodeo Association charities.

Created in 1986, the Austin Babtist Women have become an incredibly-respected charitable force, performing throughout the nation to raise money for HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and other charitable causes.  The troupe of five male actors take-on the personas of "little old church ladies" and stage elaborately choreographed, side-splitting routines -- raising more than $7 million dollars along the way for regional and national non-profit organizations.

The Austin Babtist Women were originally created as a one-time charity performance, but demand for their shows has led to an almost-three-decade run of fundraising.  The troupe has performed on Broadway and in Las Vegas -- and major cities coast-to-coast -- and continues to headline major events across the nation in addition to producing four signature shows locally each year to benefit Central Texas charities.

Admission to the Austin Babtist Women's 30th Anniversary Year celebration events is a $5 suggested donation at the door.  For more information, visitwww.BabtistWomen.com.
