The Theatre Company of Bryan/College Station (TTC) is pleased to announce Season 37 - “Because of Randy.” As many community members will remember, Randy Wilson served for twenty-three years as the Artistic Director of ‘magination Station and then TTC. First hired in 1993, which we refer to as a “watershed year” because of his experience and vision, Randy led TTC until his unexpected death in November 2016. Season 37 spotlights Randy’s enduring legacy of creativity and commitment to high quality community theatre in the Brazos Valley. Season 37’s blockbuster lineup was chosen because of each show’s significance to Randy.
Resuming a traditional theatre season (fall to summer), TTC announces the following MainStage productions: THE LITTLE MERMAID, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, OLIVER!, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. Three Off-the-Menu productions— 35mm, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, and WHO’S HOLIDAY round out the performance season. And, of course, TTCKids ‘27 returns next summer.
Every production has enjoyed awards, nominations, and other recognitions, some with multiple major awards in the US and in England. All of them share soaring melodies and thoughtful lyrics, universal human emotions, and deeply moving messages. THE LITTLE MERMAID addresses the power of love and the courage to be who you are; HOW TO SUCCEED... humorously explores the nature of success and ambition and the role of luck and charm. Even our family holiday show, RUDOLPH, looks at being true to yourself even when others see you as an outsider. OLIVER! reimagines family as the people you choose and implores us to protect the vulnerable, especially children, and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR probes serious questions of loyalty, betrayal, and faith. And finally, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, explores the redemptive role of art and imagination in the midst of personal challenges.
