CTX4391. Bottle Alley Theatre Austin Seeks Costumer for THE POISON CIRCUS

(via BATC)Calling all clowns, queers, and lovers of the surreal & whimsical!

Bottle Alley Theatre Co. is seeking to hire a Costume Designer for our November production of The Poison Circus, produced and conceived by Bottle Alley founder Chris Fontanes, and directed by Trace Turner & Faith Sanders.

The Poison Circus is Bottle Alley’s upcoming devised immersive circus play combining the spectacle of circus, the whimsy of clowning, and the mysticism of Tarot into a show like none other. Featuring original work created by the ensemble, this three-ringed play showcases a unique tarot spread of vignettes telling a different story every night. What cards will you draw? Tech begins late October and performances will be the first two weekends in November 2026, with an option to extend to a third weekend.

THE GIG: We are looking to hire a costume collaborator who will help create unique yet unified costumes for our 11 ensemble members. Other costume pieces may be needed to accompany some of the pieces of the show, but the main focus will be the ensemble’s ‘base’ costume. This is a paid position.

THE BRIEF: Ready to join the circus? Fill out our application form HERE to submit your interest and get in the running for an interview. As part of your application, we'd love to see an initial peek into your creative brain. Think sketches, swatches, Pinterest boards, a PowerPoint, a mood wall, a napkin drawing, whatever feels like you. We're not looking for a finished vision, this is just a creative warm-up. We’d like you to show us where you'd start.

COMPENSATION: $250 plus a possible percentage of ticket sales if the performance is profitable.

DEADLINE: We will close applications on April 15th and conduct interviews in mid-April.
