Lerner and Loewe's

Brigadoon

Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner

Music by Frederick Loewe

 Nominated for Seven “Tony” Awards

New Yorker Tommy Albright and his hunting partner are on a visit to the highlands of Scotland when they stumble across the mysterious village of Brigadoon, a quaint hamlet that seems to have stopped in time 400 years ago.

It is soon revealed that a miracle protects Brigadoon from the modern world by allowing it to vanish at sunset, and only re-appear for a single day every 100 years.

When Tommy meets and falls in love with the lovely Fiona, a beautiful resident in this magical town, he must decide whether to return to his old life or stay in Brigadoon — forever.

This enchanting and beloved musical, with its score by the creators of My Fair Ladyand Camelot, spawned a generous helping of song standards including "Almost Like Being in Love," "Come to Me, Bend To Me," and "Heather on the Hill."

Brigadoon is a timeless, romantic classic based in all the mystery and magic of the Scottish Highlands, and perfect for the whole family. Brigadoon is a timeless, romantic classic based in all the mystery and magic of the Scottish Highlands, and perfect for the whole family.

Shakespeare In The Park 2024

The Comedy of Errors

Produced and Directed by Jessica Sturm

Make plans now to enjoy an evening with William Shakespeare’s most hilarious characters when P2K, The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department, and Tivy High School Technical Theatre Program join forces to bring The Comedy of Errors to Louise Hays Park at the end of May.

The Comedy of Errors recounts the farcical misadventures of two sets of identical twins, with all the slapstick and mistaken identities you’d expect from a Shakespearean adventure. When the four twins come together, all is finally resolved, and, in one last twist, their parents reunite as well.

This is among the bard’s briefest and funniest plays, with plenty of action to delight the whole crew. Pack a picnic, pick up some lawn chairs and join us at Louise Hays park for a night of Shakespeare under the stars!

The Book of Will

by Lauren Gunderson

Commissioned by the Denver Center Theatre Company

Winner of the American Theater Critics Association's

Steinberg Award for Best New Play

Written by the playwright who crafted Silent Sky, The Book of Will mixes history with theatrical magic to tell the amazing tale behind the publication of “The First Folio;” the very first collection of the plays of William Shakespeare.

After Shakespeare’s death, Henry Condell and John Heminges, two members of the famed “King's Men” acting troupe, dedicated their lives and fortunes to capturing his amazing body of work, and saving it from the clutches of unscrupulous publishers who were sullying his legacy with horribly inaccurate versions.

The Book of Will has been called “an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and a new light on a man we thought we knew.”

It will be an unforgettable night of theater – don’t miss it!

The Importance of Being Earnest

A Classic Comedy by Oscar Wilde

Subtitled “a trivial comedy for serious people” and well known as one of the greatest comedies ever written, The Importance of Being Earnest is a classic in the truest sense of the word.

Written in 1895 and set in “the present,” the story of Algernon, Jack, Gwendolen, and Cecily has become one the best loved “period comedies” in the world.

In Wilde’s story, we follow the twists and turns of the unlikely romances of two pairs of young aristocrats, with mistaken identities, alter-egos and the preposterous notion that love can only happen with young men named Ernest.

Biting social satire combines with witty word play and outrageous characters to make The Importance of Being Earnest a delight from an earlier age for audiences of all ages.

A Sherlock Carol

by Mark Shanahan

This brand-new mash-up of Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle sets a true Holmesian mystery in the latter days of Ebenezer Scrooge’s lifetime – the time foreseen by the “Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come” that has been altered for the good.

In our story, a grown-up Tiny Tim asks the great sleuth to investigate the unusual circumstances around the death his benefactor, Scrooge. Holmes must use all his gifts to solve a “Dickens” of a mystery.

The New York Times called A Sherlock Carol a “clever, crowd-pleasing holiday comedy,” and TheaterMania credits the play with “joy that transfers to the audience.”

A Sherlock Carol is a fun and fascinating twist on two American icons that will make a great addition to your family’s Holiday season
