Funding Appeal: SpiritHouse Theatre Company, Austin

 

In Austin, a city with one of the fastest disappearing Black populations and historic neighborhoods, it's more important than ever to keep Black stories alive. We are holding our first event, a Toni Morrison tribute performance, on Sept 21, the first of many reading series that will revisit lesser known Black playwrights of the past as well as feature new work by emerging voices. We are passionate about offering critical, vital, joyful, thoughtful work to the community as an act of public service. We care deeply about using theatre as a tool for social justice & exploring how we might effect change through the telling of these stories.
