Ron Watson Will Succeed Mary Ellen Butler as Executive Director of the Georgetown Palace Theatre

Mary Ellen Butler Retires from The Georgetown Palace Theatre, Ron Watson to serve as Executive Artistic Director

 
 
(www.georgetownpalace.com)The Georgetown Palace Theatre (The Palace) announces that Mary Ellen Butler, Executive Artistic Director, has decided to retire, effective immediately. This decision comes from her need to spend more time with her family. Mrs. Butler will continue to serve The Palace as Executive Consultant to the board of directors.
 
During her 18-year tenure at The Palace, Mrs. Butler acted as Artistic Director then Executive Artistic Director. Mary Ellen led the Palace from near bankruptcy into an organization that is a bright beacon in Williamson County. She began the Palace education program and was instrumental in its growth. Her vision and attitude grew the program into the jewel of Williamson County.   
 
Mary Ellen also served as a champion for establishing new partnerships and bringing quality and affordable performing arts to Williamson County. “She has played a critical role in bringing The Palace from near bankruptcy to a multi-million-dollar non-profit operation. Her devotion to The Palace and her leadership throughout the years has made a lasting impact on generations of students and actors. I want to thank Mary Ellen for all she’s done for the development and progress of The Palace” stated Board President Art Rodriguez. 
 
Incoming Executive Artistic Director Ron Watson has served The Palace as Technical Director from 2006 to 2019. “Mary Ellen has contributed 18 years of experience to The Palace, and her achievements and leadership will not be forgotten. I am excited to take on this responsibility and look forward to working closely with the board to continue to grow The Palace,” stated Mr. Watson.
