Latinx Theatre Initiative - UT Chapter

>Latinx Theatre Initiative at UT Austin is a group of students, regardless of race or ethnicity, that gather together in order to promote Latino and Hispanic art theater pieces or plays in the University of Texas at Austin.

We believe that our culture is an essential part of our history, and history can be reminisced throughout the arts. Looking forward to have more Latino theater plays and performance works, we can get to know better who we were and who we are, in order to know who will be become.

Besides performing works that share our stories, we look to build community with other students at the University and with the greater Austin area. Different from other theatre traditions, our organizational structures highlight an equitable and shared collaboration among our members. We believe that our leaders should inspire and support the group to reach both high artistic standards and communal values outlined below.

Goals:

- To promote Latinx arts and culture in the University of Texas at Austin and beyond.
- To build community among UT students that identify as theatre practitioners.
- To exalt values important to Latinx culture, such as integrity, community building, and resilience.
- To educate ourselves and others about our Latinx identities and our histories.

We’d love to have you join our family!
