Lawrence Xavier Bierria, Artistic Director

Lawrence is a San Antonio native and founder of the Alamo Shakespeare Company. He began his artistic Journey in middle school,"Acting released me from all the things that was haunting me. From bullies to family struggles it seemed like the only remedy was God and Shakespeare".

After being in several short films and a slew of school plays his family relocated to New Orleans. There he attended the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) on a duel enrollment program with KIPP Renaissance High School. Lawrence also played with The NOJO Ambassador Jazz Band as a Jazz Saxophonist. As graduation closed in he had 17 colleges to choose from. Ithaca College is where he revived his BFA in Acting and Directing. He has been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade and has racked up credits with The Walking Dead, STAR and The Gifted. The project he is most proud of is his Direction Debut of August Wilson's Fences at Ithaca College. Now that he has graduated and is back in his home town, Lawrence is on a mission to transform arts education and live theatrical entertainment by combining site specificity, Jazz, Salsa and culture with the Shakespeare we all know and love. This is Shakespeare with a Big Texas Twist.
