Currently accepting submissions for cast and crew for production, “Living in the Hyphen” at Rollins Theater (Spring 2016)

Production Synopsis:
A devised multi-media narrative piece with a protagonist, a main ensemble and a secondary ensemble.  Imagine the child-like wonder of Alice in Wonderland coupled with the dark humor of Hitchhiker’s Guide.  

Performance Schedule at Rollins Theater/Long Center:

  • 6 total performances in one weekend from Thurs 3/31 to Sunday 4/3
    • 8pm performances on Thurs 3/31, Friday 4/1 and Sat 4/2
    • 7pm performance on Sunday 4/3
    • Matinee performances on Sat 4/2 and Sunday 4/3
  • Load-in and Tech  – starts Monday 2/28/16

   

 

Cast and Crew: 

  • All positions paid unless otherwise noted (either flat stipend or negotiable based on experience)

Main ensemble (6) – already cast

2nd ensemble (8) – this ensemble will be performing the following crucial parts of the show:  

  • Maneuvering a full size Chinese dragon puppet (one of the main characters of the show)
    • In general, you should be able to jog up a flight of stairs while carrying a 10lb weight and still be able to sing your favorite song after 
    • For the dragon head, you should be able to carry about 50lbs, puppeteering experience a plus
    • For the dragon tail, you should be able to do short sprints 
    • As long as we have a good mix of athletic ability, we are good. 
    • You will be given training and about 2 months to practice 
  • Be the Kuroko-ish support crew 
    • “Kuroko wear all black, head to toe, in order to imply that they are invisible and not part of the action onstage but they are plainly on stage, sometimes moving scenery, props, etc.”
    • Ability to maintain actor’s neutral (at the very least, please don’t be a fidgeter), puppeteering experience a plus
  • Be a performer in scenes if the scene calls for more performers than the main ensemble (there will be many of these scenes).
  • All costumes provided or reimbursed

  • Performance Dates and Tech week – please refer to dates above
  • Rehearsal dates as follows:
    • Feb and March – Wed evening and Sat afternoons

Crew:

Experienced Set Designer – experience in Rollins Theater a big plus
(Rate negotiable based on experience)

Experienced Lighting Designer – experience in Rollins Theater a big plus
(Rate negotiable based on experience)

Experience Stage Manager - (Rate negotiable based on experience) 

Lighting Tech 

Sound and Multimedia Tech

Videographers:

  1. For films within the performance (completion by mid-March)
  2. For promotional video (completion by Feb 1st)
  3. For a live performance (editing may be needed as well)

  • These folks will assist the Director in different aspects of the production (general availability is all through production period, from Jan till performance weekend, will work with your schedule). Volunteer positions.

Marketing Volunteer Intern – our liaison between production and the Marketing/PR Firm
