Denim Doves AND With Great Difficulty Alice Sits

Salvage Vanguard Theater is holding open auditions for two of their upcoming MainStage shows. Denim Doves by Adrienne Dawes (author of AM I WHITE) and With Great Difficulty Alice Sits by Hannah Kenah (author of Everything Is Established) 

Denim Doves will workshop November 8th- 18th 2015 and premiere Jan 21st- Feb 13th 2016. With Great Difficulty Alice Sits will workshop in the summer of 2016 and premiere in the fall of 2016 (exact dates TBD).  Denim Doves will be directed by Jenny Larson and Florinda Bryant. Alice Sits will be directed by Jenny Larson. 

Four roles are available. Male and female, age range varies. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition. Actors will be compensated.

ABOUT ADRIENNE DAWES
Adrienne Dawes' plays include Am I WhiteYou Are Pretty, Jesus Loves Good Christians, and Heritage, Her-i-tage, and Hair-i-tage. Her work has been produced by American Repertory Theatre of London, Live Girls! Theatre, Little Fish Theatre Company, New England Academy of Theater, New Jersey Repertory Company, Hyde Park Theater, St Idiot Collective and American Theater Company (Chicago, IL). Her plays have been published by Playscripts, Inc, Smith & Kraus, Heuer Publishing, Heartland Plays and Vintage Books. Adrienne is the recipient of the Stanley and Evelyn Lipkin Prize for Playwriting.  Her play Am I White was a finalist for the 2012 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference and semifinalist for the 2012 Princess Grace Award. Recently, Am I White was recognized as a winner of the 2015 David Mark Cohen New Play Award (Austin Critics Table) and received an honorable mention on The List (The Kilroys) of recommended new plays by female and trans authors. Adrienne is a member of ScriptWorks and a company member of Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin, TX.

ABOUT HANNAH KENAH

Hannah Kenah is a member of the Rude Mechs and has been developing work and performing with the company since 2008. She served as the writer for Rude Mechs' NOW NOW OH NOW which recently completed a six-city tour. With Artistic Director Jenny Larson for Salvage Vanguard Theater, she devised GUEST BY COURTESY which was selected for Fusebox Festival 2013 and then traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria for an artist exchange with Ida Daniels and the University of Sofia. Mostly recently, Hannah directed her play EVERYTHING IS ESTABLISHED for Physical Plant; the production received the Austin Critics' Table 2015 awards for Best Production of a Comedy and Best Ensemble Performance as well as being nominated for the David Mark Cohen New Play Award; the play also received on honorable mention on the 2015 Kilroys List. Up next, she'll be working with the Rude Mechs to develop their next show FIELD GUIDE, and she'll be performing in a production of her play WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY ALICE SITS which will be directed by Jenny Larson for Salvage Vanguard in the fall of 2016.
