Audition for Old Broads
Feb. 18 - Feb. 19 (2014)
This new one-act play by Michener Fellow Lydia Blaisdell will be directed by Katie Van Winkle, and produced in Austin between March 27 and 30. Rehearsals will be scheduled throughout March. Actors will receive a small stipend. CONTACT: oldbroadsplay@gmail.com
We are casting all 5 roles. Performers of all races/ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
ROLES:
- GILLIE: A 92-year-old lady who still rocks stylish dresses and Farragamo pumps. Former home-maker. Sweet and playful.
- HORTENSIA: An 87-year-old lady. Usually sporting a pantsuit and a fabulous scarf from the Met Museum Store. Former Botany professor. Avid gardener with a flinty intelligence.
- THE AIDE: A lady in her 30’s. Practical. Bored with her job and unhappy in her marriage. Very white sneakers.
- MICHAEL: Wears only white. A hunky, hapless 20’s male. Charming with a misplaced energy. Rows crew.
- BETH: Early 40’s. Gillie’s daughter. An international non-profit finance officer and recovering alcoholic. The youngest child of her family.
