ANNIE AUDITION NOTICE
ZACH Theater seeks actors for our upcoming production of Annie. In-person adult auditions will be held in Austin on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025. In-person student auditions will be held in Austin on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025. We will accept video submissions as first round auditions for individuals from out of town until December 4th. In-person callbacks for adults will be held on December 7th and in-person callbacks for students will be held on December 9th. New York callbacks will be held on December 15th.

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals begin May 29th, 2026. Performances begin June 24th, 2026 and closes August 2nd, 2026, with six - eight performances per week: Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00pm and 6:00pm.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION:
We are seeking AEA and non-AEA actors of all abilities, ethnicities, ages, and gender expressions. All actors will be considered for all roles.

ROLES TO BE CAST:
Seeking actors of all genders, ethnicities, and ages for the following roles:
ANNIE: Female-identifying | Plays 11 Years Old | Mezzo-Soprano Belter: A tough yet charming orphan. Annie is independent, hopeful, and full of life. She acts as a leader/mother figure to the other orphans and yearns for parents of her own. Looking for a strong singer and smart actor who can carry the energy of the show.
OLIVER WARBUCKS: Male-identifying | 40-60 | Baritenor: Warbucks is a highly successful businessman who made a fortune as an industrialist in World War I. Warbucks is confident, intimidating, and a bit stiff. At first, he is unsure and awkward around Annie, but warms up to her and eventually learns to love her as a father.
GRACE FARRELL: Female-identifying | 30-45 | Soprano: Oliver Warbucks’s secretary; she is poised, sophisticated and savvy, yet gentle and warm. Grace acts as a welcoming motherly figure to Annie and is able to access Warbucks’s gentler side.
MISS HANNIGAN: Female-identifying | 35-60 | Alto Belter: The disillusioned, bitter, and cruel matron of the orphanage. Her distaste for her job is evident in everything she does. Looking for a larger-than-life comedic character actress with a strong belt to match. New York accent a plus.
ROOSTER HANNIGAN: Male-identifying | 25-45 | Tenor: The flashy, self-assured con-man brother of Miss Hannigan. He poses as Annie’s father in order to claim a cash reward. Looking for a strong dancer and excellent comedic chemistry with the actress playing Lily. New York accent a plus.
LILY ST. REGIS: Female-identifying | 25-35 | Character Soprano: Rooster’s airheaded girlfriend. She poses as Annie’s mother in order to claim a cash reward. Looking for a strong dancer - seductive, ditzy, and annoying, all at the same time. Also looking for excellent comedic chemistry with the actor playing Rooster. New Jersey accent a plus.
ORPHANS: Female-identifying | Ages 7-14 | Any voice type: The orphans are tough, neglected girls, who are at the same time honest and lovable. They act like siblings - looking out for each other but also fighting each other constantly. We are looking for strong, expressive singers who can also dance well. The orphans include:
● MOLLY | Age 6-7: The littlest orphan, she latches onto Annie for love and protection.
● KATE | Age 7-8: The second youngest orphan after Molly.
● TESSIE | Age 10: The crybaby of the orphanage.
● JULY | Age 12: The quietest orphan.
● PEPPER | Age 12: The toughest orphan, always getting into fights.
● DUFFY | Age 13: The oldest orphan, usually forced to help Annie break up the fights.
ADULT ENSEMBLE: All Genders | Ages 18+ | All Voice Types: Excellent singer/dancer/actors to play various roles around New York City in the 1930’s, including street vendors, unhoused people, tourists, newsboys, street cleaners, Broadway ushers, news reporters, and more. They will also appear as Warbucks’s staff who take care of his mansion.
Featured Ensemble Roles Include:
● PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT: Male-identifying: Should be an actor who can convincingly pass as FDR. He has a bit of solo singing and speaking lines.
● STAR-TO-BE: Female-identifying | Mezzo-Soprano Belter: Featured soloist in “NYC”, the Star-ToBe is a young actress who recently moved to New York City to become a Broadway star.
● BERT HEALY: Male-identifying | Tenor: A classic 1930’s radio announcer, with solo in “Never Fully Dressed”. Should be able to change vocal quality or accents to create different radio characters.
● BOYLAN SISTERS: Female-identifying | Soprano/Mezzo-Soprano: A trio of 1930’s radio singers, should be able to hold close harmonies.
● LIEUTENANT OFFICER WARD: The policeman who questions Annie about Sandy.
● MR. BUNDLES: Male-identifying: The laundryman who collects laundry from the orphanage. He is friendly to the kids, but avoids Miss Hannigan’s romantic advances.
● APPLE SELLER: Any Gender: An unhoused person who sells apples on the streets of New York.
● DRAKE | MRS. GREER | MRS. PUGH | CECILLE: Staff who work at the Warbucks mansion.
● ICKES | PERKINS | HULL | MORGANTHAU | HOWE: Members of President Roosevelt’s cabinet.
● JUDGE BRANDEIS: Male-identifying: Attorney & associate justice of the Supreme Court who is hired to help Warbucks legally adopt Annie.
