DAISY AUDITION NOTICE
ZACH Theater seeks young actors for our upcoming production of Murder on the Orient Express. In person auditions will be held in Austin on Thursday, November 20th, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Based on the Story by Agatha Christie | Adaptation by Ken Ludlow | Directed by Jenny Lavery
REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals begin December 30th, 2025. Performances begin January 21st, 2026 and closes March 1st, 2026, with 6 - 7 performances per week: Wed. through Sat. at 7:30pm and Sat. and Sun. at 2:30pm.
Subject to change, but Daisy will be called to 2 rehearsals (1/6/26, 1/13/26) and one technical rehearsal (1/20/26).
ROLES TO BE CAST:
DAISY – Female identifying, Plays 4 - 7 years old. Daughter of the Colonel and Mrs. Armstrong. A sweet, carefree child who appears in the first scene of the show, which is filmed and has dialogue, and onstage in the final moment of the show. Should be confident and able to walk onstage independently. Her tragic kidnapping and death set in motion the events of the play and her appearance at the end deepens the emotional impact of the story..
We will be casting 2-3 children to rotate performances.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION:
To be considered for Daisy, please do each of the following:
- Fill out the Audition Form at THIS LINK.
- Schedule a specific audition time using THIS LINK.
- In the audition, your child will be asked to:
- Tell us a little bit about themself. (We’ll ask questions. We just want to get to know them.)
- Walk across the room, stop on a specific mark on the floor, and hold the reader’s hand. (Note: We will obtain their consent before this happens.)
- Perform this Side with a reader. This is the first scene, which will be filmed.
In the room will be Cassie Abate and Jenny Lavery, both educators and theatre professionals.
We request that your child come into the audition room without a parent so that we can see the fullness of their personality. Parents are asked to wait in the open doorway during their child’s audition.
