The Sun Was A Citrus Fruit
by Broke Thespians Theatre Company

Nov. 05 - Nov. 19

In the harsh Texas sun, hope grows amidst decay. When the grapefruit grove is threatened by disease, a wayward con-man, a determined farmer, and a pragmatic botanist face their toughest battle yet-against nature, their pasts, and each other. The Sun Was a Citrus Fruit is a poignant story about resilience, identity, and the roots that hold us.

Available Roles:

ELVIS - an itinerant con-man; seeking his next ruse in his hometown. A man who is less than a grapefruit, but more than a lemon.

BRIANNA (BRI) - the woman he's using; owner of a bustling grapefruit grove.

CASSIA - a botanist for the Department of Agriculture; a woman of science.

SANCHO - Elvis's old partner-in-crime; a schemer of schemes, but not a dreamer of dreams.

This project is a bilingual Mexican Spanish/English script. We are seeking actors and a director who are fluent or comfortable working in Spanish.

We accept and welcome all expereince levels! This is a greart, low-stakes way to get involved.
