The Importance of Being Earnest

The story of two friends who, in using the guise of a fictional man named Ernest to escape the pressures of society life, find themselves entangled in the complexities of love in Victorian England.


Auditions for Austin Community College Drama Department’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, directed by Marcus McQuirter



All are welcome to audition.

Rehearsals: Sept 8-Oct 16 2025 Mon-Thurs, 7-10p; Saturdays 11-2p. 
Preview: October 16, 6-10pm. Performances: Friday-Saturday 7:30pm, Sunday 2pm. October 17-26, 2025

All rehearsals will take place at ACC's Highland Campus.

Auditions:

Auditions are open to all ACC students and the community. You do not need to be an ACC student to audition. Roles are uncompensated. 

Character Descriptions are on the audition form.

Please submit a video audition of the suggested materials :

• 1 minute monologue (comedic). 
o We will performing the show with a British (RP) accent. Dialect submissions welcomed, but not required.
• Please slate at the beginning of your recording by stating your name and the title of the piece you are performing.
• Headshot and Resume are appreciated but optional.
• Upload the file of your audition material through the audition form. 

DEADLINE: Submissions will be accepted until 10:00pm CST on Sunday, August 31st. 

Callbacks

Callbacks will be in person on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:00pm at ACC's Highland Campus. If you are called back, you will be contacted via email with more information.
