Communication by Captivation is seeking talented performers with a flair for absurd improv to join the cast of The Wonderful Wizard Against Humanity, taking place at Lark & Owl Booksellers in Georgetown this summer! This one-of-a-kind production combines the unpredictability of a game show with the magic of live theater, delivering high-energy performances packed with the hilarity and outrageousness inspired by Cards Against Humanity (TM).

By reserving an audition slot through the link below, you're expressing interest in becoming part of an ensemble for CBC Theater's upcoming 2025 summer performance The Wizard Against Humanity. Actors MUST be available to commit to all scheduled tech rehearsals and performance dates. During the audition, you'll collaborate with other auditionees in a game of Cards Aainst Humanity, all while performing scripted scenes. You will be judged based on your ability to stay in character, performance abilities, and comedic timing. We will also be looking to gauge your dancing and singing abilities by means of learning and recreating song and dance.

So...what EXACTLY is this show going to look like?
Step into Georgetown, TX's most beautiful bookstore Lark & Owl Booksellers, transformed into a magical world of make believe, where the absurd meets the hilarious! Communication by Captivation is thrilled to present The Wizard Against Humanity in June & July 2025. These laugh-out-loud productions put a fresh, chaotic twist on classic tales, blending sharp performances with outrageous audience participation. From one side of the galaxy to the other, our actors will bring beloved characters to life, only to face unexpected curveballs as they improvise their way through the absurdity.
Audiences are invited to join the fun by influencing the story with playful twists, making each performance uniquely unpredictable. Actors will adapt to whatever challenges arise, all while delivering unforgettable performances full of wit, charm, and spontaneity —don’t miss your chance to experience the magic of comedy, chaos, and creativity!
For instance, if Dorothy Gale is meeting the Scarcrow for the first time:
"Can I come with you to see the Wizard? See I too am missing a piece of me..."
"Oh, My, how awful is it to not have a _________"
*Picks up card*
"Geese!" ... You must be so lonely not to have one of the friendliest birds around you all the time.
"Don't Geese -e-e-eat straw?!"
(They both proceed to go on a rant about Geese)

While, as an actor, the prospect may sound slightly intimidating, the cast will be well versed and work closely with the directors and producers to make sure they have the tools to bring the show to a successful conclusion, while navigating the many different moving aspects of the production.
The Wizard Against Humanity will be happening at Lark & Owl Booksellers - 205 6th St Suite 101, Georgetown, TX 78626
*All actors will receive a percentage of profits from ticket sales, as well as a share of tips, donations, and other "pay-to-play" contributions collected during performances, with compensation determined by their track and scene count. Additionally, each actor will be provided with a unique promo code that splits ticket revenue between CBC and the assigned actor while offering ticket buyers a discount. This payment structure ensures that every cast member is fairly rewarded for their contributions while promoting collaboration and support within the team.*
Preproduction Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will take place over three weeks. Performers can expect a total of 30 hours of preproduction rehearsal per production. Actor availability will be carefully considered when designing the schedule, and conflicts shared during auditions will be factored into the casting process. Each cast member is allowed one emergency conflict with the rehearsal date schedule after it has been published. Frequent tardiness may result in removal from the cast.

Tech Rehearsals:
While we have minimum tech for this production. We will run the show on site at the venues using all the elements necessary for performances. Performers can expect a total of 12 hours of tech rehearsal per production. Being on site for these performances are mandatory. Failure to appear will lead to immediate contract termination.

Performance Call Times:
We will have 7 performances for The Wizard Against Humanity. typically beginning at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The show will typically run about an hour and a half. In the event of inclement weather, we will find alternatives to perform. We do everything in our power not ctoancel performances. Being on site for these performances is mandatory. Failure to appear will lead to immediate contract termination.
