Join Soledad, the daughter of migrant farm workers, on a heartfelt journey of friendship and resilience. Constantly moving from place to place, Soledad finds solace in books, stars, and her steadfast companion, Luna the moon. Struggling to make friends in her ever-changing world, Soledad discovers Frida and Emilio, two kindred spirits yearning for connection. With Luna's encouragement, Soledad takes a leap of faith, learning that true courage comes from embracing risks and taking chances.

 


LUNA AUDITION NOTICE

ZACH Theatre is currently seeking actors of all ethnicities for our upcoming production of Luna. Non-union actors local to the Austin, Texas area particularly encouraged to submit. In-person auditions will be held on June 12th from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The show will run for schools and families in the Kleberg Theatre through Sunday, November 17, 2024. These dates may alter slightly.

Performances will be Tuesdays through Sundays. Weekend performances will be 2 p.m., and Weekday matinee performances will be at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Actors should audition only if they will have daytime availability in September through November of 2024.

ROLES TO BE CAST:

All cast members (except SOLEDAD) will play several other characters, including LUNA. Seeking versatile actors to devise and create collaboratively. We are seeking non-AEA actors.

SOLEDAD: (Latine, she/her, 14+ to play 8-10): loves her family, enjoys reading and learning about the stars and galaxies. Her best friend is LUNA, the moon.

MAMÁ and others: (Latine, she/her, 18-45): Soledad’s mother, migrant farm worker, learning to speak English. Also plays SHE-CLOWN and LUNA. Clowning, gymnastics, and/or other special skills encouraged but not required.

PAPÁ and others: (Latine, he/him, 18-45): Soledad’s father, migrant farm worker, makes DIY projects. Also plays HE-CLOWN and LUNA. Clowning, gymnastics, and/or other special skills encouraged but not required.

FRIDA and others: (she/her, 13+ to play 8-10): quiet, loves to read fantasy books. Also plays several GIRLs at various schools and LUNA.

EMILIO and others: (he/him, 13+ to play 8-10): quiet, loves to read cookbooks. Also plays several BOYs at various schools and LUNA.
