Aurora
by Bottle Alley Theatre Company

Feb. 19

Aurora by Chris Fontanes is the story of a starseed who, on the night of her 30th birthday, walks into a field to hopefully catch an extraterrestrial ride back to her home planet. The play is loosely inspired by the real-life UFO crash in Aurora, Texas. It is about donuts, the cosmos, fireworks, T.S. Eliot, family and the longing to find your place in the vastness of the universe.

We are excited to announce that the second show of Bottle Alley’s eighth season will be this original work written by Chris Fontanes. Trace Turner will be directing this show with performances in May, 2024.

This production will be performed in Austin on May 17th - 19th and 24th - 26th, 2024. Rehearsals will begin in March and we plan to rehearse three times per week in the evenings or weekends and will last two to four hours per rehearsal. The exact rehearsal schedule will be shared with the final cast once reasonable conflicts have been taken into account.

All roles in this production are paid. Actors of all backgrounds and experience levels will be considered.

There are three characters in this play: Aurora, Andi, and Anne. Aurora has just turned thirty, and Andi and Anne are most likely close to this age as well. All three characters can be played by cisgender women, women-identifying, gender neutral or nonbinary performers of any ethnicity or background.

Auditions will take place at Space (7915 Menchaca Road, Austin, TX 78745) from 7 pm - 10 pm in Room 25 on Monday, February 19th. Callbacks will be held in the same building in Room 25 from 7 pm - 10 pm on Tuesday, February 20th. We will notify actors regarding callbacks after 10 pm on February 19th.
