What's in a Name?

WIAN is the story of a woman at the start of transition. She invites her closest friends over, on National Name Yourself Day, to help her solve the burgeoning question; what’s in a name, and what name fits her as she goes into the next stage of her life?


Announcing a casting call for What’s In A Name?

What's in a Name? will be part of the Frontera Fest 2023 Festival. Performance dates will be released at the beginning of December. One performance is guaranteed, with up to 3 additional performances based on audience votes. 

Runtime: 11 minutes.

Roles to be cast:

THE WOMAN WITH NO NAME YET-Quiet, soft. Likes to sing. Mid 20’s, transwoman. 
DIANA-Loud, likes to laugh. Late 40’s.
FELICITY-Butch, is very friendly. Brought snacks and whiskey. Mid 40’s.
THEO-Gay, male-identifying. Alternates between speaking English and Italian. Late 20’s-early 30’s.
ARLO-Gay, male-identifying. Dresses exclusively in purple. Mid to late 30’s. 

Auditions will be zoom only; Callbacks will be in person, location TBD. Please list the roles you are intending on auditioning for; script will be sent upon booking audition slot. 

Please bring a 5-minute contemporary monologue that you feel shows your strengths. Works previously performed by you invited. 

Audition information: Zoom auditions will be held on Thursday, October 20th and Saturday, October 22nd. First available slots are 5:45 on Thursday and 12:30 on Saturday.

Callback and casting decisions will be made Sunday, October 23rd and we will contact those we’re interested in on Monday the 24th.
