The Legend of Georgia McBride
by City Theatre Company

Dec. 02 - Dec. 14 (2021)

After years of struggling at Cleo’s, a small-time night club in the Florida Panhandle, Casey’s got to get his act together fast – he’s broke and there’s a baby on the way. It’s now or never for this Elvis impersonator with big dreams. Enter Miss Tracy Mills, a self-proclaimed grand dame of drag who guarantees Casey’s life is about to get “all shook up.” Matthew Lopez’s hip-shakin’, fierce and fabulous, showbiz comedy explores what happens when one man trades in his blue suede shoes for a sequin dress and discovers he ain’t nothing but a superstar. A genderbending, sweet and campy, heartfelt celebration of divas and difference. The King is dead…long live the Queen!

Come audition for the Austin premiere of The Legend of Georgia McBride, Matthew Lopez’s fierce and heartfelt comedy about Drag, Divas, and the Difference all of us can make. This is an open call to actors, specifically actors of color and performers with drag experience. Lip-syncing and the ability to work a room in high heels are a must!
