The Preacher's Wife

A cleric begins to doubt himself and is visited by an angel. The heavenly emissary is supposed to help the good reverend over his midlife crisis, but he is distracted by the cleric's lovely young wife. Based on the book “ The Bishops Wife” which birthed the 1996 film Starting Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington. This new adaptation is sure to delight audiences of all ages! Featuring a few Gospel as well as Holiday favorites and a few new original songs.

What to Prepare:
Please prepare a Contemporary Gospel song to sing accapella best showing your vocal range. There will be cold readings from the script. 

 

Roles:


Julia Biggs - (role already cast)

Rev. Henry Biggs- The pastor of a small Baptist church in a poverty stricken neighborhood. 

Dudley - A witty and debonair angel 

Joe Hamilton- Smooth talking real estate developer. 

Margarete Coleman- Julia’s wasp tongued mother. 

Jeremiah- Julia and Henry’s young 6 year old son that narrates the story. 

Hakim- Jeremiah’s best friend that Julia and Henry end up adopting 

Saul- Rev. Biggs’ right hand man and deacon at the church. 

Beverly-Rev. Biggs’ secretary and she is over the youth ministry at the church .

We are also casting singers and dancers to be in the 30 piece ensemble.
