Dido and Aeneas, opera
by Local Opera Local Artists - LOLA

Aug. 24 - Aug. 26 (2019)

'Dido and Aeneas' by Henry Purcell, libretto by Nahum Tate, documents the story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Prince of Troy, Aeneas. Based on book IV of Virgil’s epic poem, ‘The Aeneid’, Purcell’s opera is his first and only all-sung work.

LOLA and Panoramic Voices are hearing singers for general auditions and for a production of Dido and Aeneas which will be performed February 14th and 15th of 2020.

Auditions will be held at the Armstrong Community Music School (404 Camp Craft Rd. 78746) on August 24th from 4-7, August 25th from 2-5 and August 26th from 6-9.

A pianist will be provided for you at no cost. You are welcome to bring an accompanist if you prefer.

Please prepare at least 3 arias (one being a baroque aria) in at least 2 different languages, 1 of them in English. Think of it as your "3-2-1" countdown to success!
