The Rain Sessions
by Bottle Alley Theatre Company

Jan. 21 - Jan. 22 (2019)

The Rain Sessions is a site-specific and immersive theatrical piece revolving around one of the last remaining members of a coven of witches - a necromancer - who, over the course of four stormy nights conjures the dead to keep her company. The play deals with themes of ritual, memory, and grief and is intended for mature and open-minded actors only. The Rain Sessions is also directly linked to our previous productions (particularly Apocalypse) but also functions as a stand-alone piece.

This show is the third show in our fifth season, which is entitled Jump Off A Building.

Bottle Alley Theatre Company shall be holding auditions for a cast of three people (two women and one role that can be played by either gender. People who identify as non-binary are also welcome to audition for any role that they choose) for our world premiere production of The Rain Sessions.

Performances will take place over six nights in late March or early April. We operate on a laid-back rehearsal schedule consisting of two nights a week (Monday and Tuesday evenings) for the duration of the entire process. The only time that will be different will be the week leading up to performances.

Bottle Alley Theatre Company is a DIY punk theatre company specializing in found space theatre. We have been staging strictly original work in all manner of odd places since 2012. Our work aspires to be raw, visceral, immersive, thought-provoking and, above all, honest.

We firmly believe that all artists should be paid to do the thing that they love and therefore our performers are paid, and will always be paid, a small stipend upon the conclusion of the run. It usually not winds up being very much, but the ticket sales are divided equally amongst the performers.

Still interested? Okay, here is how to audition:

Auditions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Here are the audition dates: Monday, January 21st and Tuesday, January 22nd - both sessions starting at 7 pm sharp.

Auditions shall take place at Space Rehearsal & Recording, located at 7915 Manchaca Road. The exact room number will be posted by the door as you walk in, as well as emailed to you the day of your audition.

HERE IS HOW TO SET UP YOUR APPOINTMENT:

1. Please email your headshot and resume (don't have one? That's okay too) to Director Chris Fontanes @ cmfontanes@gmail.com

2. You'll be sent back the script which you'll be asked to read first. We do this because we feel, with original work that it is important to know exactly what you are getting into.

3. Upon reading the script, if you are still interested in auditioning please reply back to confirm your audition date and time. Additionally, please include a brief statement on what drew you to this play and if you have a preference to a specific part (or are open to any).  At that point you'll be told, via email, exactly what you'll need to prepare for the audition itself.

Spots are limited and on a first come, first served basis.
