In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950’s. At the moment, they are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in Buffalo, New York, with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Audition Details

Show and rehearsals will be held at the Gaslight-Baker Theater in Lockhart, Texas (about ½ hour from Austin).

Rehearsals Begin: July 16, 2017; rehearsals will be Sunday afternoons at 2 pm, Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 p.m.

Cast Description

CHARLOTTE HAY (Lead),50’s, leading lady (a la Lynn Fontaine), George’s wife and equal. 

ROSALIND HAY,20’s-30’s, George/Charlotte’s daughter, former company member, has new boyfriend, does not want to return to the company despite pressure from family and ex boyfriend. 

HOWARD, 20’s-30’s, Rosalind’s new boyfriend, local TV weatherman, low self-esteem, though he thinks he’s in show-biz just as the Hays are.

PAUL SINGER, 30’s, Rosalind’s former boyfriend, acts in the company, ends up with Rosalind. 

 

RICHARD MAYNARD , 40’s-50’s, the Hays’ lawyer/manager, conservative, in love with Charlotte.
